In 1975 Mario was a member of Sebastian Hardie, and they produced their debut album, FOUR MOMENTS. In 1975 that album meant everything to me, and is one of those rare records I have never stopped playing. I saw Sebastian Hardie whenever I could, and every time I walked out exhilarated and amazed that we could have such magnificent music on our doorstep.

This afternoon, Mario Millo played all 22 minutes of “Four Moments,” and once again his music not only soared, but set the room allight with it. What made the music so extraordinary was the impact it had on me. I knew every note, and my heart was racing with the sound, frantically trying to race ahead because there was always another magnificent riff hurtling towards me.

Over the years, if pressed, I have been prepared to say that Mario Millo is the best guitarist I have ever seen play live. Today just confirmed that for me once again. Forty years on “Four Moments” remains not only one of the greatest Australian albums of all time, it is one of the greatest albums ever made, period. Hearing it live again really did make it an extraordinary afternoon.
